Nuclear Stress Testing

RadSite logoNorth Jersey Cardiovascular Consultants is a nuclear accredited facility recognized by the lAC (Intersocietal Accreditation Commission). Our board certified cardiologists take great pride in upholding the highest level of distinction and recognition for nuclear testing. This accreditation demonstrates North Jersey Cardiovascular's commitment to providing quality patient care.

Nuclear cardiac stress testing allows the cardiologist to evaluate the function of the heart when you are resting, exercising or both. Nuclear stress tests can be used to examine the blood flow to the heart, determine the amount of damage to the heart muscle after a heart attack, help diagnose the cause of chest pain (angina), or check the health of your arteries. This information can help the physician develop the best treatment plan for your long-term heart health.

Millions of nuclear medicine procedures are performed each year in the United States. A traditional stress test is less reliable than a nuclear stress test in evaluating the heart's electrical activity. In comparison, the nuclear cardiac stress test helps the cardiologist check if there is adequate blood flow to your heart, whether blood vessels are blocked, and whether the heart is functioning properly.

This kind of imaging will help the physician determine:

  • If you have heart disease
  • If your heart is receiving enough blood
  • If you will need to undergo further diagnostic testing
